I walk under the bridges
in New York to get away
from an argument at night
when it gets so creepy
but likable in this area around
where I live
I walk under the bridges
on the promenade by the
waters of the East River
to return to the classic
world in which the damage
of our present and the
future and the excess
of information, the pollution
and the corruption don't exist
In this part of the city around
where I live there's nothing of that
only dark waters and fishermen
who are probably getting away
from their wives and responsibilities
for a moment waiting for something
to happen. Like me. For the Fish to come
by the watchtower
Walking under these bridges
I can still feel the New York
I once fell in love with
it makes me think of the
unknown past. That beautiful
film shot in 1980, the year
I was born, in the Lower East Side
the main character
is this boy that walks around
obsessed with Charlie Parker
and the saxophone
I feel special and peaceful
over here. I get images of
myself in the future coming in
and out of shows. My shows
I walk under these bridges
between the Manhattan Bridge
and the South Street Seaport
I feel my solitude and my clothes
my identity. My past and my
sea of possibilities
Under the Manhattan and Brooklyn
bridges. Where the classic world
remains
